Following some investigation spurred on by a conversation on Oracle-l I did a test and it looks like whilst on POSIX platforms tim= lines in sqltrace are gettimeofday calls, on windows they are elapsed time since system boot - probably queryPerformanceCounter calls.

More 10g stuff.

It appears that on some, but not all windows platforms the isqlplus service has an invalid service name due to the * in the middle of it. As I can't disguise my loathing for isqlplus I don't really care.

Windows users are also likely to be caught out by the changes to multiple oracle homes under 10g. Whilst multiple homes are still supported the old fashioned Oracle Home Selector doesn't recognise 10g homes. This is because the tool for setting the path under windows has moved to the environment tab of the installed products screen under OUI. Or as others might say been hidden.

So 10g is out at last for all the major platforms. Presumably the bugs will start appearing any day now.
